The Syrian Interior Ministry announced the suppression of preparations for a coup

In Syria, they prevented the preparation of a coup d'etat, which was organized by a group of officers of the former Syrian army. This was announced on April 16 by Interior Minister Anas Khattaba.

"The plans of the conspirators were put to an end, thanks to the efforts of our security agencies and the entire people, the coup attempt is a thing of the past," he is quoted as saying on the Syrian Interior Ministry's Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

The Minister also announced the creation of a special department to capture criminals through coordination with other agencies. He promised the residents of the republic to continue to closely monitor their safety.
