The Iranian authorities are ready to start discussing the terms of the agreement proposed by the United States only if Washington does not insist on the complete elimination of the country's nuclear program. This was announced on April 16 by the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araghchi.

He clarified that Iran will be able to start a dialogue on a possible deal if the Americans' position is constructive.

"The issue of Iran's uranium enrichment is an accepted fact, and we are ready to work to build trust [with the American side], despite potential concerns. However, the issue of uranium enrichment is not subject to discussion," Araghchi told reporters. The broadcast was hosted by the SNN TV channel.

On April 15, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei gave a positive assessment after holding the first round of talks with the United States in Oman. According to him, negotiations can lead to both positive and negative consequences. That is why, in his opinion, it is necessary to focus on the internal capabilities of the country.

The first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on lifting sanctions and nuclear issues ended in Oman on April 12. During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, exchanged the positions of their governments on these issues in the presence of the Omani Foreign Minister.

At the end of the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the continuation of negotiations in a week. Araqchi said that during the second round, Iran will discuss with the United States the framework of possible agreements. In turn, US President Donald Trump noted that the negotiations on Iran are going well.
