- A captured Ukrainian Armed Forces militant spoke about the torture of civilians in the Kursk region

Bodies of civilians with signs of torture and their hands tied were found in basements in the Kursk region. This was announced on April 16 by the captured militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Sergey Kosyak.
"We were shown videos that civilians, old men, and murdered women were found in basements. With signs of torture, with his hands tied. I do not know what kind of person you need to be to do that. I don't understand why this is, why our leadership invaded the Kursk region," said Kosyak.
He also shared that in the "tutorial", instead of the anthem of Ukraine, they were forced to learn the prayer of the national battalion "Azov" (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation).
"When we first crossed the border with the Kursk region, the company commander ordered that when civilians appeared in positions, we should capture them," Kosyak said.
According to him, as punishment for alcohol intoxication, the company commander sent a Joint "like cannon fodder for slaughter."
"Looking at the Russian soldier, I realized that they were better prepared than we were," said the soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier that day, a captured militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the command leaves the fighters alone when changing locations. He shared that the staff of the territorial recruitment center (TCC, an analogue of the military enlistment office in Ukraine) issued him a summons when he was on his way to the market in Poltava.
