Eight European states have joined the European Union (EU) sanctions against the Republic of Belarus. The corresponding statement was published on the website of the Council of the EU on April 15.

"The Council decided that 25 individuals and seven legal entities should be included in the list of individuals and legal entities, organizations and bodies subject to restrictive measures. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway and Ukraine align themselves with this council decision," the press release said.

The resolution on the imposition of sanctions against Belarus was adopted earlier, on March 27.

On April 15, the media reported on the desire of EU countries to circumvent Hungary's veto when imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation.

On April 11, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said that the possibility that Hungary would be deprived of the right to vote in the European Union (EU) against the background of new sanctions against Moscow was excluded. He added that Hungarians are interested in peace in Ukraine, as are residents of other countries outside Europe. The continuation of the conflict is supported only in Western Europe.
