The White House announced Trump's desire to establish a dialogue with Iran.

US President Donald Trump wants to resolve the conflict with Iran through dialogue. This was announced on April 15 by White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt at a briefing for journalists.
"Of course, the campaign of maximum pressure on Iran continues, but as you know, the president has made it clear that he wants to see dialogue and consultations with Iran, while clearly stating his position that Iran will never be able to obtain nuclear weapons," she said.
To achieve this goal, the American leader had a telephone conversation with Sultan of Oman Haysam bin Tarek Al Said on the same day. As part of the dialogue, Trump thanked his counterpart for organizing a meeting between representatives of the United States and Iran. He also stressed once again that Iran must abandon its nuclear program.
"The two leaders also discussed the ongoing United States military operations against the Houthis and stressed that the Houthis will pay a heavy price until they stop their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea," Leavitt said.
The first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on lifting sanctions and nuclear issues ended in Oman on April 12. During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, exchanged the positions of their governments on these issues in the presence of the Omani Foreign Minister.
On April 15, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei gave a positive assessment after holding the first round of talks with the United States in Oman. According to him, negotiations can lead to both positive and negative consequences. That is why, in his opinion, it is necessary to focus on the internal capabilities of the country.
