Italy has given a positive response to a request for the next round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on nuclear issues, Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani said on April 14.

Earlier it was reported that the negotiations are expected to take place on April 19.

"We have given the green light to the Iranian-American talks," the Corriere della Sera newspaper quoted Tajani as saying.

According to him, Italy received a request from Oman, which plays the role of mediator, and gave a positive response.

"Rome confirms its title as the capital of peace and mediation. This is not the first time that such meetings have been held in our country, and we are ready to do everything necessary and will continue to support all negotiations that can lead to a solution to the nuclear issue, as well as to building peace," the minister concluded.

The first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on lifting sanctions and nuclear issues ended in Oman on April 12. During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East Stephen Witkoff exchanged the positions of their governments on these issues in the presence of the Omani Foreign Minister.

At the end of the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the continuation of negotiations in a week. Araqchi said that during the second round, Iran will discuss with the United States the framework of possible agreements. In turn, Trump noted that the negotiations on Iran are going well.
