94 residential buildings destroyed in Tajikistan as a result of earthquakes

In two districts of Tajikistan, 94 residential buildings were completely destroyed due to the earthquakes, and a child died in the village of Ushturpast, the country's Emergency Situations Committee reported on April 14.

54 residential buildings were completely destroyed and 45 houses were partially damaged in the Tajikabad district. Minor damage occurred in the 61st residential building and two buildings of a secondary educational institution. 196 auxiliary structures were completely damaged, three teahouses and one medical facility were partially damaged.

"As a result of the earthquake, a minor Mashrabov Abdugani, born in 2022, a resident of the village of Ushturpast in the rural jamoat of Hijborak, Rasht district, was trapped by the wall of an apartment building and died on the spot from his injuries," the agency's website says.

There are no casualties in the Tajikabad district. The Republican Commission continues to work on damage assessment and coordination of earthquake response activities.
