The second round of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran, scheduled for April 19, may take place in Rome. This was reported on April 14 by the Axios portal, citing two knowledgeable sources.

The proposal to move the meeting place was put forward by the American side. At the same time, Omani mediators will still be present at the negotiating table, the portal clarifies.

In addition, before the start of the second round of negotiations, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi is expected to visit Tehran, where he will discuss the organization's activities in monitoring and verifying Iran's nuclear facilities.

The first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on lifting sanctions and nuclear issues ended in Oman on April 12. During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, exchanged the positions of their governments on these issues in the presence of the Omani Foreign Minister.

At the end of the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the continuation of negotiations in a week. Araqchi said that during the second round, Iran will discuss with the United States the framework of possible agreements. In turn, Trump noted that the negotiations on Iran are going well.
