Earthquake of magnitude 5.5 recorded in Myanmar


An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was recorded in Myanmar. This was announced on April 13 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
According to him, the seismic event was registered at 02:24 UTC (05:24 Moscow time). The epicenter was located 92 km south of the city of Mandalay, where about 1.2 million people live. The hearth was located at a depth of 8 km.

On March 28, two large earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 occurred in Myanmar. The epicenter of one of them was located 31 km northwest of the city of Mandalay. The next day, on March 29, over 100 Russian rescuers arrived in Myanmar to provide assistance.
On April 9, the head of the operational group of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, Sergey Vorontsov, announced the completion of the active phase of the search and rescue operation at the earthquake site in Myanmar by Russian rescuers. He added that Russian medical workers provided assistance to 330 residents of Myanmar in a car hospital.
