The main goal of Iran's negotiations with the United States in Oman is to ensure the country's national interests. This was announced on April 12 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Esmail Bakai.

According to him, Tehran expects that at the current round of negotiations the parties will only exchange basic positions on the nuclear issue, so the meeting will not last long.

"This is just the beginning, so it is quite natural that at this stage the parties will exchange key positions through Omani intermediaries, so we do not expect this round of negotiations to be long," Bakai was quoted as saying by IRNA news agency.

Negotiations between the United States and Iran will take place in Oman on Saturday, April 12. The parties are expected to discuss the re-conclusion of the nuclear deal, which the current American leader, Donald Trump, canceled in his first term.

The NourNews news agency reported on April 8 that the main negotiators at the US-Iranian meeting will be Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff. Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi will also attend the meeting.
