On April 12, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein expressed hope that the United States and Iran would be able to reach an agreement on the nuclear program at the talks.

"There will be a meeting between the U.S. representative and Iran today. We are very supportive of this process. We are starting discussions between both sides, and we hope that they will reach an agreement," the diplomat told Izvestia.

The day before, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said that negotiations between the United States and Iran would be direct, and their goal would be to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. She added that American leader Donald Trump believes in diplomatic ways to resolve this issue and positive results of future direct negotiations.

The NourNews news agency reported on April 8 that the main negotiators at the US-Iranian meeting in Oman, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, will be Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff. Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi will also attend the meeting.
