A survey of Russian car owners conducted in March showed that one in four of them is waiting for the return of departed brands to the country. This was reported on April 11 by the analytical agency Autostat.

The survey focused on how respondents would choose a new car if they were planning such a purchase. 24.2% of the respondents replied that they are ready to wait with the purchase of a new car when the departed foreign cars (European, Japanese, Korean, American) return to the market.

Almost one in two (48.9%) replied that they would consider only brands officially represented on the Russian market. One sixth (16.6%) of the respondents are ready to look for a car that will arrive in Russia through alternative channels. 7.9% indicated that they were going to travel to another country themselves to buy a car.

It is noted that among 5,000 respondents, only 12% said they really plan to change their car this year. The rest replied that they would not do this for various reasons.

The day before, it was reported that in January – March 2025, 213 Chinese car dealerships were closed in Russia due to the loss of investors. This is more than in the whole of 2023 (187 car dealerships), and three times more than in the first quarter of last year (67 showrooms).

On April 7, it became known that the average price of a new car in the first quarter of 2025 was 2.96 million rubles. Compared to the same period last year, Moskvich (-14.7%) and Omoda (-4%) cars lost the most significantly in price among the brands.
