UK detains fraud suspect in case of gas explosion in Makhachkala

In Dagestan, a fraud suspect was detained in the case of a gas explosion in an apartment building in Makhachkala. This was announced on April 11 by the Republican Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
According to the investigation, in 2024, the defendant, posing as an official of Gazprom Distribution Makhachkala, received 350 thousand rubles from the developer for issuing documentation on the gasification of the house where the explosion later occurred. The papers issued to them did not actually meet the requirements of the legislation.
"The suspect has been detained, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention will be considered in the near future. The investigation of the criminal case continues, and other persons involved in the commission of the crime are being identified," the department's Telegram channel says.
A gas explosion in the apartment of a multi-storey building on Gaptsakhskaya Street in Makhachkala occurred on March 25. As a result of the incident, four people were injured, several apartments and cars were damaged. The mayor's office said that the building where the incident occurred had not yet been put into operation, so residents should not have been there. According to Sergey Kasyanov, the chief housing inspector of Dagestan, the gas equipment in the house did not meet the requirements and was not registered. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case on the provision of unsafe services.
