The United States is acting recklessly and contributing to the destabilization of the international situation when it continues to impose new trade duties. This was announced on April 11 by Chinese Foreign Minister Wai Yi at a meeting with IAEA Director Rafael Grossi.

"In recent days, the United States has been brandishing a tariff cudgel everywhere, openly putting its own interests above the common interests of all countries and brazenly ignoring the multilateral trading system and established rules," the minister said on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Wang Yi added that the United States cannot act arbitrarily, and the international community must respond to the imposition of trade duties.

He said that China would oppose such a US policy not only in its own interests, but also in order to protect the interests of the international community.

Earlier in the day, Bloomberg reported that China would increase additional duties on U.S. goods by 41%, to 125%. It is noted that additional tariffs will be adjusted from April 12. The Chinese Ministry of Finance also clarified that Beijing will stop responding to further increases in duties by Washington.

On April 10, CNBC reported that US President Donald Trump had increased tariffs on goods from China to 145%. In turn, US Vice President Jay D. Vance said that Trump wants peace, but also wants fair trade and "greater self-sufficiency for the American economy."

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, in turn, said there were no winners in the trade war with tariffs. He also noted that if the United States insists on unleashing a war with duties and a trade war, then China will go to the end.
