The media reported on the creation of a new Oscar nomination

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the introduction of a new nomination for the main national Academy Award in the United States for achievements in the field of stunt art. This was reported by the Los Angeles Times on Thursday, April 10.
It is specified that the first award in the corresponding nomination will be presented in 2028 at the 100th Academy Awards ceremony, which will be dedicated to films released in 2027.
"Since the early days of cinema, staging stunt stunts has been an integral part of making films," the newspaper quoted a joint statement from Bill Kramer, CEO of the Academy, and Janet Young, president of the Academy.
It is noted that this step was the result of a long-term struggle on the part of the stunt community, which sought recognition for its work at the Oscars. Stuntman Jack Gill began lobbying for the award back in 1991, enlisting the support of celebrities such as Steven Spielberg and Brad Pitt.
The complexity of the stunts in modern blockbusters such as "Mission Impossible" and "Fast and Furious" has strengthened the arguments for the recognition of this profession at the most prestigious film awards. The director of the John Wick film, David Leitch, who had previously been a stuntman himself, also actively promoted this idea, the newspaper writes.
The rules of selection and voting in the new nomination will be published only in 2027, the details of the award are also not yet known, the publication says.
Variety reported on April 10 that Russian actor Yura Borisov has signed a contract with the Hollywood United Talent Agency (UTA) for cooperation. It was noted that UTA is engaged in representing actors and popular figures such as Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Timothy Chalamet.
