In the Dominican Republic, the number of victims as a result of the collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub has increased to 218 people. This was announced on April 10 by the head of the Emergency Management Center, Juan Manuel Mendes.

"The number of people rescued and taken to hospitals is 189," the Listin Diario newspaper quoted him as saying.

It is clarified that since Tuesday, rescuers have not been able to find a single survivor when sorting through the rubble. The National Institute of Forensic Examination will be responsible for identifying the bodies of the victims.

The roof of a nightclub in the Dominican Republic collapsed on April 8 during a party by singer Rubby Perez. The cause has not yet been determined. According to Waldo Ariel Suero, a doctor, there are medical workers among those who are considered missing or dead.

A day later, the Minister of Health of the Dominican Republic, Victor Atallah, announced that most of those killed in the collapse died instantly, as most of the injuries occurred directly on the head and chest.
