In January–March 2025, 213 Chinese car dealerships closed in Russia due to the loss of investors. This is more than in the whole of 2023 (187 car dealerships), and three times more than in the first quarter of last year (67 showrooms). This was reported on April 10 by TASS with reference to a study by Gazprombank Autoleasing.

"The Bestune brand became the leaders in dealer losses (26 closures), Kaiyi came in second place (20 closures), and DFM came in third (16 closures). Geely, Jaecoo, Jetour and Li Auto are among the top 10 brands in terms of the number of closures for the first time," the report says.

According to analysts, if this trend continues until the fall, then by the end of the year a record will be set for the number of closures of Chinese showrooms, and the total volume of retail locations will again fall significantly below 4 thousand.

In total, 274 dealer locations (across all brands) were closed in the first quarter of 2025. During this period, 124 salons of Chinese brands were opened (half as many as in January-March 2024). As a result, 449 showrooms were closed in 2024.

All brands from China now account for 2.7 thousand salons, which is 87 less than at the beginning of 2025. Chery leads the ranking in terms of the number of showrooms, followed by Geely and Changan.

On April 7, it was reported that the average price of a new car in the first quarter of 2025 was 2.96 million rubles. Compared to the same period last year, Moskvich (-14.7%) and Omoda (-4%) cars lost the most significantly in price among the brands. The average price of a used car in Russia was 845 thousand rubles. Hyundai (-8%) and Kia (-7.1%) became noticeably more affordable among the brands.
