Slovak PM opposes Ukraine's membership in NATO

Ukraine should never join NATO because Kiev's membership in the alliance poses a threat to peace, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said in an interview with Izvestia.
"I think Ukraine should never join NATO. I cannot prevent Ukrainian politicians from expressing their wishes. Each country chooses its own path. But if Ukrainians now say that they want to join NATO, we should respect this wish, but it does not mean that they will be accepted there. Because Ukraine's membership in the alliance carries such a danger for the whole world that we cannot even imagine," Fitzo said.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO was never discussed as part of the mining deal. He also expressed the opinion that Ukraine's desire to join the alliance could have caused a full-scale conflict with Russia.
