The European Union (EU) should have its own plan for settling the conflict in Ukraine, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo has said in an interview with Izvestia.

"Europe should have its own peace plan. Europe with its resources should not have looked at the administration of former US President Joe Biden, what Biden wants or does not want in Ukraine, itself should have acted from the very beginning. And it should have influenced Russia and Ukraine from the very beginning: let's negotiate, let's look for a peace plan that would suit everyone," Robert Fitzo told Izvestia.

He noted that both the American and Russian sides are skeptical of the EU because of its bellicose rhetoric.

Earlier, the European Commission announced the allocation of €1 billion to Kiev as part of a loan from the G7 countries.
