Kallas reported a lack of money to supply Ukraine with 2 million shells from the EU

The European Union (EU) is experiencing financial difficulties with the planned supply of 2 million artillery shells to Ukraine. This was announced on April 9 by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaya Kallas, at a press conference following a meeting of the EU—Ukraine Association Council.
"The main obstacle is money. Together, we are already providing more than 50% of what is needed this year, but we still need to," Callas said at the event, which was broadcast on her page on the social network X (former. Twitter).
At the same time, according to her, the discussion on the provision of 2 million shells to Ukraine is moving forward. The head of European Diplomacy noted that various European countries are contributing to the achievement of this goal.
On April 3, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky announced that the Czech initiative to supply ammunition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had been funded only until September this year. According to Lipavsky, the Czech Republic intends to supply 125,000 shells per month to the Kiev regime.
A day earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that in the first quarter of 2025, the alliance countries allocated about €20 billion for military assistance to Ukraine.
