The Kherson regional court sentenced a local resident to nine years in prison in a case of treason and espionage. This was announced on April 9 by the press service of the regional directorate of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.
They noted that the 19-year-old convict was a citizen of Ukraine until July 2023. According to the investigation, from June 2022 to July 2023, she transmitted information about the locations of Russian military personnel and equipment via the Telegram messenger to representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
A criminal case was opened against the girl under Articles 275 ("High treason") and 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Espionage").
"Taking into account the opinion of the public prosecutor, the court sentenced the defendant to nine years in prison. The verdict has not entered into legal force," the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the Kherson region said in a statement.
The day before, the Supreme Court of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) sentenced Artem Kudzhanov, a 21-year-old citizen of Ukraine, to 12 years in prison in a case of espionage. It was established that the defendant collected information about the locations of Russian military personnel in the region and transmitted the data to the Ukrainian special services via messenger.
