The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation has completed the active phase of the operation at the site of the earthquake in Myanmar

Russian rescuers have completed the active phase of the search and rescue operation at the earthquake site in Myanmar. This was announced on April 9 by the head of the operational group of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Sergey Vorontsov.

"The active phase is completed. Heavy and engineering equipment is already involved in the dismantling of the blockage," TASS quoted his report to the head of the department, Alexander Kurenkov.

According to Vorontsov, Russian medical workers provided assistance to 330 residents of Myanmar in a car hospital. He also said that it is planned to send two more special vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with humanitarian aid to the country on April 9. Tents, clothing, basic necessities and larger mobile electric stations will be delivered to the region, which will be needed to "power" the region's infrastructure.

The consequences of the rampant disaster were felt by several countries in the region

Sergei Tsvetkov, a rescuer from the Centrospas detachment of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, who took part in the aftermath of the earthquake, told Izvestia on April 5 that the work on dismantling rubble poses a danger to the specialists themselves, including due to the collapse of buildings at the work site. He stressed that the progress of work to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake depends on the receiving Russian rescuers.

Two earthquakes in Myanmar of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 became known on March 28. The epicenter of one of them was located 31 km northwest of the city of Mandalay. As a result of the natural disaster, 3.6 thousand people died in the republic, and another 5,017 were injured. The next day, on March 29, over 100 Russian rescuers arrived in Myanmar to provide assistance.
