Trump announced plans to impose customs duties on pharmaceutical products

Washington plans to impose customs duties on pharmaceutical products imported from foreign countries to the United States. This was announced on April 8 by the American leader Donald Trump.
"We're going to do what we have to do. We will impose tariffs on pharmaceutical products," the US president said during his speech at a fundraising event for the Republican National Committee.
According to Trump, the introduction of tariffs will be announced in the near future. He clarified that the American market is large, and this is its advantage.
On the same day, the American leader announced that the imposed US duties bring about $2 billion in profit to the state treasury. In addition, Trump added that more than 70 countries have expressed their willingness to negotiate with the United States on the issue of imposed duties.
On April 2, Trump announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. On April 4, China imposed duties of 34% against the United States.
