On April 8, American leader Donald Trump announced that the imposed US duties bring about $2 billion in profit to the state treasury.

"We get, just think, $2 billion a day [thanks to duties]. That's a lot of money. That's a lot of money, even in the coal business. Very soon America will become very rich again," Trump said.

In addition, he added that more than 70 countries have expressed their willingness to negotiate with the United States on the issue of imposed duties. The US president also clarified that the work on concluding deals is currently progressing well.

"We have negotiations with many countries, more than 70," the American leader said.

In addition, he expressed concern that there would not be enough time to negotiate with everyone. According to him, in this case, hired law firms will be involved in concluding transactions.

On April 7, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that almost 70 countries had contacted the administration of the American leader with a request to negotiate on the issue of the duties imposed.

On April 2, Trump announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. On April 4, China imposed duties of 34% against the United States.

The next day, Georgy Ostapkovich, director of the HSE Center for Economic Research and Economic Analysis, noted that the introduction of US duties on imported goods could provoke a chain reaction that could lead to a global financial crisis.
