Forecaster denied the possibility of snowfall in Moscow in the summer

The probability of snowfall in Moscow in May and June is low. However, a return of cold weather is possible during these months. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this on April 8.
Earlier, Anatoly Tsygankov, head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Service's crisis management department, warned of possible snowfall in May and June in the capital regions in an interview with the Moscow Speaks radio station.
"Yes, we may have a return of cold weather. Snow is possible in May, but it is impossible to predict it and say that it will happen," she said.
According to the forecaster, the probability of snowfall in the summer months is extremely low and it is impossible to predict it in advance. Moreover, she assured that the snowfall will melt by Easter, and the air temperature will approach the climatic norm.
"This does not mean that we will have a steady increase in temperature and so on. No, the processes are synoptic, they develop in such specific waves: a heat wave, a cold wave, and so on, because now, to a greater extent, cyclones have begun to determine the weather in the metropolitan region, in which the weather pattern has a certain cyclicity," Pozdnyakova explained.
In addition, the expert stated that temperature anomalies in the summer months in Moscow will be positive. However, the deviation from the norm can be only + 1 degree.
"Processes like these need to be seen, and none of the weather forecasters can accurately predict," the expert added.
The day before, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, said that the warm weather would return to Moscow next week, and on April 15 and 16, the air temperature would rise significantly. He added that the snow will gradually begin to melt due to the above-zero temperature.
