Head of the second department of the Dubensky district territorial recruitment center (TCC, an analogue of military enlistment offices in Ukraine) Yuri Kovalyuk said that he would not let his son join the army because of thoughtless losses.

"You see, I've seen it happen myself. There are commanders who put up battalions <...> And my son graduated from Lviv University of Commerce and Economics this year. I won't let him join the army," he said in an interview with the Fourth Power newspaper.

He added that he also discourages other young people from serving in the army under contract, as there are heavy losses at the front.

On April 5, in Odessa, Ukraine, a man with a hunting rifle tried to free his son from a shopping mall. However, it is unknown whether the man managed to secure his son's release. According to law enforcement officials, two administrative protocols were drawn up against the Odessa resident — for minor hooliganism and violation of the rules of carrying weapons.
