- Hungary announced that the construction of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant has reached its peak

The construction of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant (NPP) in Hungary under the project of the Russian state corporation Rosatom is being carried out according to plan and is "reaching its peak." This was announced on April 8 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
He made the corresponding statement in connection with the start of construction of the reactor vessel of the sixth power unit of the station in St. Petersburg, as well as the start of construction of the turbine for the fifth power unit in France. The Minister called these events important milestones in the implementation of the NPP project.
"The good news is that the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Paksha, which is receiving the largest investments in the European Union in the field of nuclear energy, is reaching its peak. It is also important that [in the implementation of the project] we are moving forward as we would like," Szijjarto said in a video message posted on his Facebook account (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation).
According to Szijjarto, reactor buildings are one of the most important long-term elements of nuclear power plants. The Hungarian Foreign Minister stressed that they are manufactured "in accordance with the strictest European and Hungarian rules and standards."
On March 27, the Hungarian Foreign Minister expressed hope that the United States would soon introduce an exception to sanctions for the construction of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant. He called the project extremely important for Budapest from the point of view of national energy security.
At a working meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak on March 26, Szijjarto said that Budapest expects to continue cooperation with Moscow in the field of energy, and noted that he appreciates the results of bilateral cooperation.
