Wilfand predicted the continuation of winter weather in Moscow until April 14.

The winter weather in the capital will continue until the end of the week, with temperatures turning positive from Thursday, but frosts of up to -8 degrees are forecast at night. This was announced on April 8 by Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, in an interview with Interfax.

"The weather will be wintry throughout the week, but it will be more consistent with the end of February and the beginning of March. If we compare it with Friday, when it was +17...+20 degrees in Moscow and the Moscow region, and this temperature corresponded to the second half of May, the weather has rolled back for almost 2.5 months on climatic rails," Vilfand said.

According to him, on the night of Tuesday, April 8, the temperature in the capital may drop to -4 degrees, and in the Moscow region to -7. At the same time, the temperature background may rise to +1 degree during the day. The same weather awaits Muscovites on Wednesday, April 9th. Vilfand also added that on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night temperatures could drop to -7 degrees in Moscow and -9 degrees in the region.

In addition, the forecaster predicted continued precipitation in the region. According to him, the snow will continue, then it will be replaced by rain. The snowfall is forecast to persist until the end of the week, added the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.

In Smolensk, the daily precipitation record was broken, in Moscow, snowdrifts did not reach historical values.

On April 7, Vilfand announced that the warm weather would return to Moscow next week, and on April 15 and 16, the air temperature would rise significantly. He added that the snow will gradually begin to melt due to the above-zero temperature.
