Heavy precipitation will remain in Moscow and the region until about April 8, and the snow cover in the capital region will not come off until at least a week later. This was announced on April 6 by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation Roman Vilfand.

"In the coming night, precipitation will continue in the form of snow, and the temperature is dropping. She will be in Moscow around -2...-4 degrees, -7 degrees in the Moscow region, and the daytime temperature is about zero, -2...+3 degrees," the forecaster said.

According to him, such fluctuations will lead to ice. On Monday, April 7, Vilfand added, it will be 0 degrees, on Tuesday-Thursday, from April 8 to April 10, at night — -3-8 In the afternoon until Wednesday, April 9, it is also around 0, then the temperature will start to rise.

The meteorologist noted that from mid-April, the air will warm up to +6...-11 degrees is slightly below normal. Vilfand explained that the collision of warm and cold air masses led to snowfall in the capital region.

"If the temperature is significantly higher than normal, the weather is very warm, very hot, then problems are bound to arise after a few days," the expert said.

Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather Center, reported on April 6 that snow cover ranging from 5 to 11 cm high had formed in Moscow last night, and up to 7 mm of precipitation had fallen in the metropolitan areas, which is up to 19% of the norm for April.

Evgeny Tishkovets, a specialist at the Phobos weather center, noted that 43% of the monthly precipitation fell in the south of the Moscow Region last night. The reason for such a heavy snowfall was Cyclone Zion, which "brought real winter to Moscow at night."

At the same time, on April 5, Vilfand also warned that a significant cold snap is expected in the regions of the southern European part of the Russian Federation by the middle of next week, as well as rains starting this weekend. Even negative temperatures are expected at night in the steppe regions of Crimea.
