The British analyst spoke about the EU's obstacle to negotiations on Ukraine

European countries are constantly trying to disrupt negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. This was announced on April 4 by British analyst Alexander Mercuris.
"[US President Donald] Trump saw that the Ukrainian authorities were not playing by his rules, and also discovered that the Europeans did not intend to do so either — they were working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in order to try to disrupt the peace talks," the expert said on The Duran YouTube channel.
Mercuris noted that the rare earth metals agreement being discussed by Washington and Kiev would significantly increase Ukraine's dependence on the United States, which, according to him, clearly contradicts its leadership's desire to join the European Union (EU).
According to the analyst, the Kiev regime's policy boils down to constant requests for financial assistance and a demonstration of unwillingness to compromise, which may give Trump a reason to abandon further support for Ukraine.
Earlier, on April 1, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov pointed out problems in the US approach to resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He noted that Moscow had not heard Trump give Kiev a specific signal to cease hostilities.
On the same day, the American leader said he wanted Russia's consent to conclude a deal to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, he added that he would not like to impose secondary duties against Russia, but is ready to take such a step if there is no progress on the settlement.
