Europe's requests for the deployment of long—range hypersonic weapons are a bluff, military analyst and political scientist Vadim Mingalev told Izvestia on April 4. In his opinion, the deployment of such weapons in the European Union is currently unrealistic.

On the eve of the Supreme Commander of the NATO Joint Armed Forces in Europe, American General Christopher Cavoli, at a hearing in the US Senate Committee, said that Europe had requested the deployment of long-range hypersonic weapons on its territory.

Mingalev noted that the United States had not yet reached a certain level in the creation of such weapons, and had not previously issued them to European countries.

"The talk that hypersound will appear directly in Europe is just a conversation. It is also premature to talk about prototypes. Therefore, today it is called a bluff. <...> This bluff with the so-called hypersound was launched in order for Russia to eventually begin to concede in the negotiation process. But as we know, our Armed Forces and the country's leadership are well aware that this is a hoax. Another trick," the expert said.

In his opinion, such a tactical move was invented by the Europeans in order to influence the plans of the Russian Federation. However, the deployment of long-range hypersonic weapons in Europe is currently unrealistic, the political scientist believes.

Earlier, on March 18, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Europe should have strong defense by 2030, which requires rearmament and the development of capabilities for reliable deterrence. In particular, she believes that for this, investments should be increased in the production of air and missile defense systems, as well as all modern types of drones and anti-drone systems.

Prior to that, on March 11, during the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, von der Leyen said that the EU defense industry was lagging far behind Russia, so it was necessary to accelerate militarization.
