- Szijjarto pointed to the problems in the EU economy due to the incompetence of Brussels

The economy and the population of European countries are once again paying the price for the incompetence of Brussels politicians. This was announced on April 3 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"The situation became clear after yesterday's statements by the US president [Donald Trump] about customs. The European Commission was supposed to hold negotiations," he wrote on his Facebook page (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation).
According to Szijjarto, European diplomats should have negotiated with the American administration to reduce tariffs on the automotive industry from 10% to 2.5%, but they did not do so.
"However, the European Commission has also failed. They did not negotiate, instead they turned the economic issue into an ideological one again," concluded the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.
Earlier in the day, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, did not announce retaliatory trade duties, while calling on Trump to negotiate. According to her, the European Union has almost completed the preparation of the first package of possible retaliatory measures, but it will be adopted only if negotiations on the abolition of duties fail.
On March 26, the American leader announced the introduction of 25 percent duties in the United States on all cars and trucks manufactured outside the country. He clarified that these measures will come into force on April 2 and will be added to the existing ones. The White House estimates that approximately $100 billion in annual duties will be collected.
