An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred off the coast of Myanmar. This was announced on April 1 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

According to him, the earthquake occurred at 22:57 local time (19:27 Moscow time). The epicenter was located at a distance of 154 km south of the city of Yangon, where more than 4.4 million people live. The hearth was located at a depth of 10 km.

There was no information about casualties or damage.

On March 31, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 were recorded in the Asian republic. The epicenter of one of them was located 31 km northwest of the city of Mandalay. The death toll according to the latest data has exceeded 3 thousand people.

The next day, more than 100 Russian rescuers arrived in Myanmar to provide assistance to the affected population. So, in Mandalay, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, together with colleagues from China, pulled a woman who had been lying there for more than two days out from under the rubble.

Myanmar's Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing declared national mourning for the victims of the disaster on March 31.
