Russian man missing in Myanmar after earthquake


An HCIS private high school teacher from Russia went missing in Myanmar after the devastating earthquake on March 28. This was reported on April 1 by the Khit Thit agency.
In addition to the Russian, four more teachers of this educational institution are missing. It is known that three of them were citizens of South Africa, and one more was from the Philippines.
The staff of teachers lived in the Mandalay Sky Villa apartments, which collapsed as a result of the natural disaster. It is reported that they could have been buried under the rubble and trapped for more than 70 hours. Currently, no connection has been established with any of the five missing persons.
"Rescue operations at the Mandalay Sky Villa are continuing in cooperation with the Chinese rescue team and the fire department," the agency said.
On March 28, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 were recorded in the Asian republic. The epicenter of one of them was located 31 km northwest of the city of Mandalay. The death toll is more than 2.7 thousand people. The next day, more than 100 Russian rescuers arrived in Myanmar to provide assistance to the affected population. So in Mandalay, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, together with colleagues from China, pulled a woman who had been lying there for more than two days out from under the rubble.
