An eyewitness told about the first minutes after the earthquake in Myanmar

During the earthquake in Myanmar, everything collapsed literally within 50 seconds. Vladlen, an eyewitness who miraculously survived the cataclysm, told Izvestia about this on Tuesday, April 1.

"When the earthquake started, I was just talking to my wife on the phone, and I was thrown on the bed. <...> The house began to collapse. I was thrown on the bed and crushed by the wardrobe," Vladlen shared his memories.

According to him, the wall of the condominium building in which he lived in Yangon fell off, and the building itself "collapsed." Vladlen was able to get out of the house by jumping through a gap in the wall, as the sixth floor was at the third level after the earthquake.

"Only two people from our cond survived, me and a neighbor, all the others died. Ten floors just folded up," he said.

The building finally collapsed when the second tremor began. Vladlen was lucky not only to survive, but also to get by with small scratches. He added that weak tremors of two or three points continued for three more days and nights.

On March 28, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 were recorded in the Asian republic. The epicenter of one of them was located 31 km northwest of the city of Mandalay. The death toll is more than 2 thousand people.

The next day, more than 100 Russian rescuers arrived in Myanmar to provide assistance to the affected population. So, in the city of Mandalay, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, together with colleagues from China, pulled a woman who had been lying there for more than two days out from under the rubble.
