The Chinese military announced exercises around the island of Taiwan
China's military has announced joint army, naval and missile exercises around the island of Taiwan. This was announced on Tuesday, April 1, according to the Reuters news agency.
"These exercises mainly focus on combat readiness patrols from sea and air <...> attacks on sea and land targets, as well as the blockade of key areas and sea routes to test the capabilities of joint operations of their troops," the agency quoted the statement.
The Eastern Command announced the start of the exercises on the WeChat social network.
Earlier, on March 22, Taiwan reported the approach of 47 Chinese aircraft and seven ships to the island. It is noted that 41 of the 47 aircraft crossed the median line and entered the northern, southwestern and eastern air defenses of Taiwan. Employees of the defense forces monitored the situation and were able to respond to it.
