An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded off the coast of Indonesia. This was announced on March 31 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

According to the center, the tremor occurred at 15:54 UTC (18:54 Moscow time), 142 km southwest of the city of Vaingapu, which has a population of about 48 thousand people. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 28 km.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.

On March 28, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 were recorded in Myanmar. The epicenter of one of them was located 31 km northwest of the city of Mandalay. The death toll is more than 2 thousand people.

The next day, more than 100 Russian rescuers arrived in Myanmar to provide assistance to the affected population. So, in the city of Mandalay, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, together with colleagues from China, pulled a woman who had been lying there for more than two days out of the rubble. On March 31, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations sent 95 more rescuers to help eliminate the consequences of the devastating earthquake.
