The mother of the man who shot in Murmansk told about his treatment in a mental hospital

The man who opened fire from the roof of a house in Murmansk was being treated in a mental hospital. His mother told about it on March 31 in an interview with Izvestia.

According to her, after treatment, the man could no longer work and plunged into hunting, buying weapons. The shooting incident at law enforcement officers was the first incident involving him.

The woman said that before the attack, she had not noticed anything unusual in her son's behavior. However, when the shooting started, she felt that it was he who was involved in this incident.

Eyewitnesses reported shooting on the roof of an apartment building on Kola Avenue on March 30. Later, the information was confirmed by the Governor of the Murmansk region, Andrey Chibis. The regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the man fired at least 58 shots and refused to enter into negotiations, as a result of which it was decided to neutralize him. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.

A criminal case was opened on the fact of an attempt on the life of law enforcement officers under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In addition, the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the shooter is in critical condition.
