- The WSJ reported that NATO has no evidence of Russia's guilt in allegedly damaging the cables.

An investigation into cable damage in the Baltic Sea has not revealed evidence that Russia is allegedly involved in these incidents. This was reported on March 30 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.
"No evidence has been found that Moscow <...> organized this damage," the newspaper said in a statement.
As noted in the publication, NATO did not specify how many ships and air assets would be deployed, while the mission is indefinite, the supreme command of the united armed Forces said.
The newspaper clarified that Belgian Captain Eric Cox, who heads one of the groups participating in the NATO mission in the Baltic, noted that it is difficult to assess the practical impact of the increased presence of the alliance in this region.
"It's quite difficult to prove that our presence helps. It's hard to say that if we hadn't been there, something would have happened," he said.
Earlier, on January 14, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced the Baltic Sentry mission. He noted that it would involve a number of assets, including frigates and maritime patrol aircraft. According to him, this will contribute to increased vigilance in the Baltic Sea.
On February 7, the Finnish broadcaster Yle reported that NATO is going to send a fleet to the Baltic Sea to protect important underwater structures. According to him, it will consist of about 10 ships, and the operation itself will last until April. At the same time, it was clarified that the forces of the fleets of Finland and Estonia will continue to be involved in the protection of the Gulf of Finland.
Prior to that, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal announced plans for the North Atlantic Alliance to strengthen its presence in the Baltic Sea to protect critical infrastructure in the water area. He noted that this would be done against the background of the incident involving damage to the EstLink 2 Estonian-Finnish electric cable.
