Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced on March 31 that he had asked Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko to stop attacks on Russian energy facilities.

According to him, he made such a request to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine during a recent meeting with him.

"I asked him to help me convince those who need to be convinced in Ukraine not to attack the energy infrastructure leading to Hungary," Szijjarto said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He also noted that the safety of Russian oil and gas pipelines is one of the security guarantees given to the country by the European Commission (EC).

The day before, Szijjarto said that the Hungarian authorities consider attacks on the energy infrastructure through which Budapest receives Russian oil and gas as an encroachment on its sovereignty. Szijjarto noted that in recent months, attacks by the Ukrainian side on the Druzhba oil pipeline have become a serious problem. According to him, this led to disruptions in oil supplies.

In addition, Szijjarto said on March 11 that oil supplies from Russia to Hungary via Druzhba were suspended due to an attack by a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the measuring station of the pipeline.
