Due to a powerful earthquake that may occur in the next 30 years in the Nankai fault, more than 290 thousand Japanese residents will die. This was reported on March 31 by NHK TV channel with reference to the government.

According to experts, if an earthquake of magnitude 8-9 occurs in the Nankai fault to the southeast of the main Japanese island of Honshu, up to 298 thousand people will die due to the incident.

The possible consequences of an earthquake, such as landslides or fires, will take the lives of 52,000 people. It is estimated that the incident will destroy more than 2.35 million buildings located in Japan.

On March 28, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 were recorded in Myanmar. The epicenter of one of them was located 31 km northwest of the city of Mandalay. The death toll in Myanmar has reached 1.7 thousand people, more than 3.4 thousand were injured, and 300 are missing. In Bangkok, the number of earthquake victims has increased to 18.
