The condition of the injured Russian citizens in the Sinbad tourist bathyscaphe crash off the coast of the Hurghada resort in Egypt is not cause for concern. This was announced on March 27 at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Hurghada.
"At the moment, seven Russian citizens, including five minors, remain in hospitals in Hurghada. According to the doctors, their condition does not cause concern," the Consulate General said in a Telegram message.
The Consulate General also confirmed that six Russians, including two children, were killed in the Sinbad bathyscaphe accident.
"We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims," the consulate added.
The crash of a bathyscaphe with Russians on board off the coast of Hurghada became known earlier that day. There were 45 Russian citizens on the ship. The company Sharm Hurghada Excursions, which organized the tour, told Izvestia that the bathyscaphe had been in operation for about 10 years.
Ekaterina, a tourist, told Izvestia that water began to flow into the sunken bathyscaphe through the hatches almost immediately after people descended onto the ship. She noted that her mother and daughter are in serious condition after the incident.
The governor of the Red Sea province, Amr Hanafi, later announced that the death toll of Russian citizens in the crash of a bathyscaphe off the coast of Hurghada had increased to six people. According to him, 29 victims were taken to hospitals.
