A medical couple from Tatarstan died as a result of a bathyscaphe crash that occurred in Hurghada. Their daughters managed to survive. This was announced on March 27 in the press service of the head of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov.

"As a result of the accident, a couple from Urussu died," the agency quoted TASS as saying.

The two daughters of the victims were hospitalized. The Ministry of Health of Tatarstan keeps in touch with their relatives.

The crash of a bathyscaphe with Russian citizens on board off the coast of Hurghada became known earlier that day. There were 45 Russians on the ship. As a result of the incident, five Russians were killed, including two minors. The company Sharm Hurghada Excursions, which organized the tour, told Izvestia that the bathyscaphe had been in operation for about 10 years.

Prior to that, the Consulate General reported on the rescue of 38 Russians. Of these, 24 people were taken to hotels, the remaining 14 citizens were hospitalized.

In an interview with Izvestia, Ekaterina, a tourist, told about the details of the incident. According to her, the water began to flow onto the Sinbad bathyscaphe almost immediately after the people were lowered onto the ship.
