Experts have named the best time to buy a motorcycle

It is best to buy motorcycles in Russia in early spring and autumn, but on the eve of the motorcycle season, when demand and competition for good copies are higher. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on March 27.

"In our opinion, a favorable time to buy is the beginning of spring, when the season has not started yet and there is no rush demand on the market, as well as autumn, when many owners sell their motorcycles at the end of the season," said Ilya Zarembo, head of the Motorcycle category at Avito Avto.

According to analysts, the peak of interest in used motorcycles occurs in late spring and early summer. For example, in 2023, their popularity peaked in May, almost 2.7 times higher than in January of the same year. In 2024, the trend has continued.

Supply growth begins in early spring: already in March, the number of ads increases by about 15% compared to February. The peak occurred in the last month of spring: in May 2024, there were 30% more ads than in January. In August and September, the dynamics begins to decline.

Spring break: motorcycle sales almost doubled before the season

Russians have come to love Chinese brands, but they don't forget about second-hand classics either.

On March 20, it was reported that 2.16 million motorcycles were registered in Russia as of the beginning of 2025. Over half (55.5%) of all motorcycles in Russia are of domestic origin. Japanese motorcycles are the second most common in the fleet, accounting for 13.1%.

Prior to that, on March 14, Viktor Potapenko, founder of the Motostudy motorcycle driving school, a certified BMW Motorrad instructor, told Izvestia about the most common accidents in Russia involving motorcyclists. According to him, such accidents most often occur when the car turns from the oncoming lane: the driver of the car turns left, but does not notice the approaching motorcyclist.
