- The Russian Federation tested an engine with import-substituted components for nuclear energy

The military-industrial holding company Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) has successfully tested import-substituting components for D100 engines for nuclear power, Mikhail Danilenko, Managing Director of KMZ, told Izvestia.
The Kingisepp Machine—Building Plant is successfully testing components for the D100 engine as part of its own test bench for the needs of Rosenergoatom," he said.
We are talking about components for ensuring the operation of diesel power plants, which are responsible for cooling reactors in the event of an emergency at nuclear power plants.
Previously, these components were supplied by the Ukroboronprom concern (Malyshev plant in Kharkov), specializing in the production of medium-speed engines and armored vehicles. Therefore, it was decided to eliminate the critical dependence of strategically important Russian facilities and open the production of components on the territory of the Russian Federation.
During its operation, KMZ Military Industrial Holding has built more than 15 high-power test benches, including for testing gas turbine engines, a medium-speed engine, a gas-fueled engine, and dozens of test benches for testing complex fuel equipment, including aircraft engines.
Earlier, on February 11, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that Russia is a leader in the field of nuclear energy. He stressed that in order to maintain leadership, the country must continue to develop fundamental and applied science in the nuclear industry, as well as train promising young specialists.
