Russia condemns Israeli strikes on Syrian territory

Russia condemns the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) strikes on Syria and calls for the withdrawal of troops from the country. This was announced on March 25 by Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations.
"We strongly condemn the IDF strikes, which have resulted in the killing and wounding of more than 20 people in the southern province of Homs in recent days alone," he explained.
Polyansky also called on Israel to start complying with its obligations under the 1974 disengagement agreement and withdraw its military units from the occupied Syrian territories.
According to the Russian diplomat, by its actions Israel negates the willingness of the new Syrian leadership to establish peaceful relations with neighboring states.
Earlier, on March 11, the Israeli armed forces attacked military installations in the province of Deraa in southern Syria. The attacks were directed at Syrian units located in populated areas.
Israeli attacks on Syrian territory intensified after the change of power in the Arab republic in December 2024. Since that time, the IDF forces have been attacking military installations in Syria.
