Russians were told the cost of a minimum spring wardrobe

The conditional minimum spring wardrobe, which includes a light jacket, jeans, dress, socks and boots, will cost Russians an average of 13,935 rubles. This is stated in the results of a study by analysts of the HUMOPEU wallet and the Check Index analytical center of the OFD Platform company, which were reviewed by Izvestia on March 26.
Experts have found that from March 1 to March 15, 2025, the number of purchases of women's clothing decreased by 15% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the turnover of payments increased by 14%, and the average receipt increased by 34% and amounted to 11,839 rubles.
"This spring, we are witnessing a trend towards a conscious approach to shopping — Russians began to buy fewer clothes. So, from March 1 to March 15, the number of purchases of men's and women's spring clothes decreased by 10% year on year. At the same time, there has been a noticeable increase in interest in accessories and clothing for recreation and sports, with 32 and 34% more purchases in these categories, respectively," says Irina Polyakova, Head of Corporate Customer Support at YUMOPEU.
Analysts suggested that Russians' interest in shopping could decrease, among other things, due to the warm start of spring in some regions: people spent more time outside and were less interested in shopping. At the same time, the demand for summer categories of goods, such as dresses, turned out to be higher due to a shift in the seasonal factor.
"The number of purchases of different types of spring clothes is growing only in online channels due to the flow of customers from offline. However, overall, piece-by-piece sales in the fashion sector are showing a slowdown due to the temporary saturation effect. The younger generation strives for conscious consumption and increasingly chooses minimalism, including in clothing," Check Index said.
Thus, the number of purchases of light jackets from March 1 to March 15 increased by 8% year-on-year, and the average check amounted to 3,982 rubles (+4%). The number of jeans purchases decreased by 9%, and the average check increased by 7% and reached 3,550 rubles.
There were 11% fewer purchases of demi-season boots, and the average receipt was 1,958 rubles (+5%). Sales of socks in the first days of spring decreased by 5%, while the average check reached 453 rubles (+7%). The number of purchases of dresses increased by 9%, and the average receipt increased by 10%, to 3,992 rubles.
On March 19, it was reported that Russians were more active in purchasing summer and mid-season clothing and shoes in early March than a year earlier. This was told to Izvestia by online platforms. Analysts called the abnormally warm beginning of March the reason for the shift in demand towards lighter clothing.
