Putin appoints new Russian Ambassador to Eritrea

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Oleg Petrenko as the Russian ambassador to Eritrea. The relevant decree was published on March 25 on the website of the official publication of legal acts.

"To appoint Oleg Vladimirovich Petrenko as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the state of Eritrea," the document says.

Earlier, on March 6, Putin appointed Alexander Darchiev, director of the North Atlantic Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, as Russia's ambassador to the United States. He has also been appointed Russia's permanent observer at the Organization of American States in Washington.
