The Italian Foreign Ministry accused the West of inconsistent policy towards Russia

The inconsistent policy of the West has soured relations with Russia, which wanted to establish strong contact with Europe. This was announced on March 24 by Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli at a press conference at the Foreign Press Association in Rome.
"In my opinion, the signs that I saw indicated that Russia wanted to create very strong relations with Europe, but I also believe that there was an inconsistent policy on the part of the West as a whole that forced [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to Putin changed his mind, considering that Europe and the West did not treat him in good faith," he told reporters.
In addition, according to Cirielli, the Italian government believes that it is necessary to maintain relations "with all global players," including Russia and China.
Advisor to the Director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS) Dmitry Bunevich, in a conversation with Izvestia on March 24, noted that statements by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron are often provocative and demagogic. The political scientist recalled that France and the United Kingdom have serious defense potential and Germany is also ready to participate in the militarization of Europe.
On March 20, it became known that the countries of the so-called coalition of the willing, which includes France and the United Kingdom, decided to abandon the idea of sending ground forces to Ukraine and now want to focus on ensuring air and maritime security for Kiev. On the same day, Macron announced a summit of the coalition of willing with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, which is scheduled for March 27.
