The Commission on European Integration of the Armenian Parliament has approved for the second reading a draft law on the beginning of the process of the republic's accession to the European Union (EU). This was reported by Sputnik Armenia on March 24.

The decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of the commission.

The head of the commission, Arman Egoyan, said that the bill will be sent to the agenda of the parliamentary sessions, which will begin on March 25.

It is specified that the project was supported by the majority of votes.

On January 9, the Armenian government approved a draft decision on the start of the EU accession process. After that, on February 12, the document was adopted in the first reading by the Parliament of the Republic. Initially, the second reading was supposed to take place on March 4, but it was postponed, justifying this decision for "technical reasons."
